Our mission is to, “Transport students safely to school ready to learn”. Our goal is to continuously improve our program and service; to provide safe access to learning for the district’s students in a caring professional manner. Lake Pend Oreille School District No. 84 Transportation Department’s top priority is providing safe transportation in our community for every child.
Today, Lake Pend Oreille School District No. 84 transports 2,295 students twice daily, over 257 railroad crossings. We also transport students 13,634 miles on field trips and 47,868 miles for competitions. Lake Pend Oreille School District No.84 drivers drove 641,793 miles in 2011/12 school year which equals over 2,800 miles each day.
The Transportation Office supervises all aspects of LPOSD No. 84 student transportation and the supporting operations. Our leadership team and staff are professional, reliable, courteous and kind. We employ more than 50 drivers, 3 full-time mechanics and one dedicated trip driver. There are 32 regular bus routes and 7 special needs routes. We also lease buses and drivers for special events. Some of our special events include Lost in the 50’s and the Long Bridge Swim.
